Day Three - Sunday 7 May

The Great River Road

Today features an eastbound run along the full length of The Great River Road and stretches as far along the Murray River as you can reach on bitumen. The locals consider this drive along the Murray River Road between Bellbridge and Corryong the inland equivalent of the Great Ocean Road, with majestic valley views of the Murray River around every bend and seemingly endless crests and curves to enjoy in your car.

All the 'T's

Commencing at Albury, the Tour crosses the iconic Bethanga Bridge and passes through all the 'T' localities – Talgarno, Thologolong, Tintaldra, Towong and Towong Upper. One more T, morning tea, supplied by the locals, will be available at two or three of the roadside stop lookouts, allowing you to enjoy the breathtaking landscapes and fresh high country air.

The Man From Snowy River

After visiting as far along the Murray as possible on bitumen, the tour arrives at Corryong, the home of The Man From Snowy River, for an open-air lunch. There'll be plenty of time to admire all the vehicles and enjoy a friendly chat 'n chew.

Forests and history

After lunch, the tour heads west via the peaceful old railway town of Cudgewa and then past the Burrowa-Pine Mountain National Park along the curvy Murray Valley Highway towards Shelley, Koetong, and the quaintly named Bullioh. Turning north across the bridge at Old Tallangatta (the town that moved in the 1950s), the tour travels along the rambling Georges Creek valley to Talgarno and then up the hill towards the hidden gem of historic Bethanga.

The day is completed with a wonderfully scenic and winding drive along the shores of Lake Hume to cross the Bethanga bridge back towards the finish in Albury. A day to live long in the memory!
